Doe Deere is famously known for creating one of the most unique beauty lines available on the market today. Her company, Lime Crime, was founded simply as a personal desire. She founded Lime Crime during the era when everyone was wearing nude makeup and it was very light. Doe Deere sees Lime Crime as a beauty brand that gave her the ability to express herself. She wanted bright and bold shades but also was a stickler for quality and she just couldn’t find the level of quality ingredients she wanted.

However, Lime Crime gained a rise to fame. As it turned out, thousands of people (maybe millions) wanted the same bright shades she did and also wanted the best quality makeup. She originally started selling her homemade products on an eBay store, which was a popular medium to sell at the time. Yet, soon the demand grew too rapidly for her to maintain as a single entrepreneur. She began to expand and launched her website. She had previously wanted Lime Crime to be a company where she sold homemade articles of clothing. In fact, Doe Deere was in school to become a fashion designer during the time that Lime Crime took off.

The website quickly began selling in volumes. Doe Deere utilized the method of video blogging to gain her initial customers and to grow her followers. She has also always utilized social media as a means to showcase her brand. To this day, social media is still a major part of Lime Crime’s marketing strategy. Lime Crime is unique in the fact that it actually engages with its followers. The company has an entire section of its website that is fully dedicated to showing its real-life customers wearing the actual products that Lime Crime provides. Lime Crime was also the first company to ever show its lipsticks on actual lips, rather than simply a swatch of lipstick with a white background.

Lime Crime has always been unique and that stems from the top, with founder Doe Deere. She takes a great amount of pride in releasing products that are just as unique as Doe Deere is. From the names to the packaging, Lime Crime prides itself on standing out. In fact, the company mascot is a unicorn, a majestic creature that always stands out in a crowd. The entire theme of Lime Crime is a unique feel that is almost mystical. Doe Deere chose the name Lime Crime because it reminded her of a fairy tale-like rhyme. Fans of Lime Crime are incredibly loyal and have nicknamed Doe Deere the Unicorn Queen.

Doe Deere also gave advice for people to find their true passion in life and not to let fear get in the way. She also spoke in great detail about the struggle she had in selecting a lab to create her products. She wanted to stay completely true to her vision for Lime Crime and to make sure she found someone that would share that vision. The full article can be found on
