The award is given to those of notable artistic value, who are directly connected to the state of Mississippi in one way or another. Ivy is not only an architect, and CEO of the American Institute of Architects, but he is also an author and editor.

Robert Ivy’s accomplishments have gained him the notice of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters, which is why he was awarded the Polk Noel Lifetime Achievement Award.

The president of the AIA has also recognized Robert Ivy’s achievements, and has given him verbal accolades in a piece regarding the announcement of the award. The president of AIA, Carl Elefante, has praised Robert Ivy for not only his role as CEO for the past seven years, but also as a “practicing architect”.

Before he became the CEO of AIA, Robert Ivy was the Editor-in-Chief of the Architectural Record. During his time there, he also received several other awards for his work.

Ivy has also been accredited with the expansion of the AIA on a global scale. To date, the 160 year old institute is at it’s highest membership numbers across the world.

In conjunction with the Award, he will also be joining the Alpha Rho Chi; the fraternity of architecture, and an honorary title for those who have been recognized as the nations best architects such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Evidentally, this man has worked hard, and we can expect him to continue to do so, for the betterment of society.
